    • Dr. David Swartz

      1960-06-22

      Dr. David Swartz was born in Oswiecim, in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, in 1904. His family moved to Canada early in his life, and he took on medicine at the University of Manitoba from which he graduated in 1928. He went on to study in Edinburgh to specialize in urology, then practiced in London, Vienna and Berlin, but returned to Canada before the onset of the Second World War. He served in the Royal Canadian Medical Corps where he attained the rank of Major. After the war, he set up practice in Winnipeg.

    • Dr. J. P. Bourque

      1961-06-22

      Dr. Jean-Paul Bourque was born in Bourget, Ontario, in a family with deep medical ties. He received his M.D. from Lille, in France, in 1935. He became the successor to Oscar Mercier as head of urology at the Montreal Hôtel-Dieu Hospital in 1946.
