      • The President and 2 MALs of the Executive Committee are unable to attend the Winter Executive Meeting due to bad weather and an airline strike
      • The Secretary becomes the chair of the Time & Place Committee 
      • The potential need for periodic teleconferences with the Executives in order to assist the Secretary with making decisions between semi-annual meetings is first realized
      • The Scientific Program now starts Sunday afternoon and runs for full days on Monday and Tuesday

       

    • Dr. Gordon F. Mack

      1972-06-22

      Dr. Mack was born in Halifax in 1921. He studied at Dalhousie, and was a third-generation physician in his family. In the Second World War, he acted as Surgeon Lieutenant in the RCNVR. He completed his graduate work in urology at the Victoria Hospital in Montréal and later held a senior staff appointment at Halifax Hospitals, and became professor and head of the Urology Department at Dalhousie and Head of Urology at Victoria General.

      • The Canadian Urological Association Scholarship Foundation (CUASF) is started in order to further research in urology

    • Dr. Kenneth J. MacKinnon

      1973-06-22

      Dr. MacKinnon was born in Antigonish in 1921. He graduated from Dalhousie University and worked in Antigonish before moving to Montréal. He did his post-grad work in urology at McGill in 1953, and was appointed Urologist-in-Chief at the Royal Victoria Hospital in 1959, and professor and chairman of the Urology Division at McGill in 1969. In 1958, he was part of the first team that successfully transplanted a kidney in Canada. In 1979, he moved to Nairobi, Kenya, to act as Executive Director of the Aga Khan Hospital. He returned to Nova Scotia in 1982, and became Chief of Staff at Halifax Infirmary and professor of urology at Dalhousie.
